
Steven Abusch

Steven Abusch is co-founder of The Play Group Theatre, a non-profit educational theatre based in New York. He has produced hundreds of Mainstage shows and a myriad of workshops, showcases and special events.

Steven led the design, construction and full technical integration of a new 20,000 square foot performing arts complex complete with two theatres, scene shop, acting, dance and design studios and more, where The Play Group Theatre now resides in downtown White Plains. This vibrant multifaceted venue has hosted dance and performing arts companies, playwrights, orchestras, filmmakers, speakers, and more. Steven personally guides professional and community artists alike to realize their visions and reach local audiences.
Steven's production and design work has been seen at a wide range of local venues including The Capitol Theatre, White Plains Performing Arts Center, The Purchase PAC, Irvington Town Hall Theatre, and the Emelin Theatre among others.
Steven's props and special effect designs have been featured in countless productions across the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe including at Finland's Tampereen Työväen Teatteri, The Paper Mill Playhouse, Rivertown Theaters, University of Pennsylvania, Lakes International Language Academy, Downriver Actors Guild, Stageworks Theatre, and Tyler Civic Theater Center.
Steven received his BFA in Fine Arts from SUNY Binghamton and studied at the Scuola Lorenzo De'Medici in Florence, Italy.
Steven's favorite creative collaborators are his wife Jill and children Aviva and Ilana.
